Tour of Wigan by Father Christmas has been hailed a 'success' by Rotarians
The annual collection made by Wigan Rotary Club in the company of Father Christmas throughout December was a big success.
Father Christmas toured Wigan, where his arrival was eagerly anticipated, and on other occasions he and his helpers were singing carols in the Grand Arcade or visiting one of the supermarkets.
Wigan Rotary president Heather Hartley said: "I would like to thank everyone for their generosity, which will enable Wigan Rotary Club to continue to support local, national and international charities. We are conscious this festive season has not been the easiest for a lot of people, and we are extremely grateful for everyone’s continued support."
She continued: "We know the year ahead won’t be easy for a lot of local charities and community groups and I can assure everyone who made a donation in December that we will use the money as carefully as possible. Wigan Rotary Club has been serving the local community for over 100 years and with the continued help from the residents of Wigan we will keep on doing so."
Wigan Rotary Club meets on Thursdays and welcomes new members, both men and women. If you are interested in joining, email [email protected] or call 07813 471000.
