Dean Trust Wigan completes “Race to Uganda” fund-raiser to spread Christmas cheer

Dean Trust Wigan has successfully completed its most ambitious Christmas charity challenge to date, as staff and pupils took part in the Race to Uganda fundraiser.
This year, the school partnered with Seeds of Hope, raising vital funds to support the provision of water storage containers for communities in Uganda.
Building on the success of last year’s appeal, the school community collectively cycled and ran an impressive 6,511 miles — the equivalent distance from Wigan to Uganda.
The challenge helped raise crucial funds to support families facing hardship this festive season, ensuring they could enjoy a warm and joyful Christmas.

The event received fantastic support from Asda and Be Well, with pupils taking turns clocking up miles on exercise bikes at Wigan Asda on December 18.
Members of the public showed their support by cheering pupils on as they contributed to the overall mileage total.
Funds raised are being shared between families in need and charities that work closely with the school community: Daffodil Dreams and Fur Clemt. Each organisation provides vital support to local children and families throughout the year.
We are also supporting Seeds of Hope, a charity which supports rural families in Uganda rural with access to fresh water.

Dean Trust Wigan would like to thank the local community for their generosity and encouragement. Donations made online have helped make a real difference this Christmas.
