Health issues can arise at any time, even on a bank holiday, so it’s important to be prepared and know where to get help.
Every bank holiday, NHS 111 sees an increase in people getting in touch because they have run out of prescription medicines.
Health bosses have urged people to plan ahead and make sure they have enough medication.
But if you still need to visit a pharmacy, whether it’s for prescriptions, over-the-counter medication or advice, a limited number will open their doors on bank holiday Monday, August 31.
Pharmacists can offer expert advice and treatment for a range of common illnesses, including coughs, colds and stomach problems.
Through Pharmacy First, they can assess people and provide treatment for a number of common conditions, including sore throat, earache, shingles and uncomplicated urinary tract infections.
Here is a list of the pharmacies in Wigan borough which will be operating on Monday and their opening times.
If you are unsure where to go for help, visit NHS 111 online or call 111.
For a life-threatening emergency like a serious road traffic accident, stroke or heart attack, call 999.
