Patients encouraged to get help elsewhere as Wigan's hospitals are 'really busy'

Wigan's hospitals are currently "really busy" and people are being urged to seek medical help elsewhere if possible.

Bosses at Wrightington, Wigan and Leigh Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust have encouraged people to consider using the out-of-hours GP service or going to Leigh walk-in centre for treatment for minor injuries and ailments.

If they are unsure, it is recommended that people call NHS111 first for advice about the best place to go.

A Facebook post on Saturday said: "We are really busy right now. Please use alternative services where possible such as out-of-hour GPs or Leigh walk-in centre for minor injuries."
