Wigan Athletic announces restart date for mens' health programme

Wigan Athletic Community Trust has announced the restart date for a project which helps men in the Wigan borough lose weight and keep healthy.

Restarting in September, the 12-week FIT LATICS initiative, backed by the EFL Trust and supported by Sport England and the National Lottery aims to improve the health of men aged 35-65 who want to lose weight and enjoy a more active lifestyle.

FIT LATICS, which is delivered by Community Trust staff, has so far seen participants lose a total of 93kg on programme including Latics fan Antony Biggs who lost 11.3kg and completed the 12-weeks alongside his Dad Tony.

He said: “I joined the programme to help with motivation to lose weight and get fit.

“For me having my Dad alongside me throughout was added motivation to keep going. We both had problems in the past motivating ourselves to commit weight and getting fit, and now we have something that has helped us stay focused on our goals.

“I have got better with planning my meals and generally eating healthier. It has kept me motivated to keep my exercise going as well.”

FIT FANS has so far helped thousands of football fans to achieve long-term improvements in weight loss, physical activity, diet and general wellbeing.
