Wigan family donates 40 nebulisers to NHS in memory of mum

Edna Bibby, a patient at WWL’s Royal Albert Edward Infirmary, died in August following treatment for lung cancer and, in her memory, her son Christian Lee Dunn and brother Bert Dunn, along with family and friends of Edna raised over £3,600, enough for 40 nebulisers to be donated to the Trust.

And the pair, who are currently living in the same household in Aspull, want to continue to raise fund for the Macmillan team who looked after Edna as they treated her with such care.

Christian said: “I could never have prepared myself for the loss of my Mum but by providing these nebulisers, each with a name plaque, means her legacy of always helping others will live on.

“For me, that helps fill the void, knowing that the nebulisers will be helping others through their treatments and we are hoping to continue to raise funds annually.”

Venecia Rayson, Macmillan Lead Lung Cancer Specialist Nurse who looked after Edna said: “This donation is invaluable.

“All our nebulisers are currently out in the community so this donation will go a really long way to help treat more of our lung cancer patients in the hospital.

Vee added: “We urge any patients who no longer need a nebuliser to return them back to the hospital to help other patients who need it most”.
