But the 34-year-old was determined his loss in September 2018 would not be in vain and decided to throw himself into fund-raising.

And he soon realised he wasn’t alone when he discovered the ‘For Our Lost Little Ones’, a football team set-up to provide support for fathers who have lost a child.

And preparations are now well underway in organising a second charity football match at Ashton Town to commemorate Freddie.

Freddie was born prematurely at 23-weeks and was immediately transferred from Liverpool Women’s Hospital to the Arrow Park Hospital in Birkenhead in an attempt to save him.

He passed-away on September 3 at the Claire House Children’s Hospice.

Claire House will always hold a special place in the family’s heart as they allowed him to stay in the residence for seven days to spend some precious time with Freddie.

The Liverpool hospice helps seriously and terminally ill children live life to the full by creating wonderful experiences and bringing back a sense of normality to family life by providing specialist nursing care and emotional support.

Following his son’s tragic passing, Keith wanted to launch a fund-raising event to show the family’s appreciation for the children’s hospice, and he held his first charity match at Ashton Town on May 26, 2019.

Keith was able to help raise more than £2,000 for the hospice- spurring him on to make the charity match an annual event.

He has confirmed this year’s date with Ashton Town chairman Mark Hayes for Sunday, May 10.

He said: “I honestly cannot wait. I wish it was the charity match next week. We’ve got the date confirmed, kits sorted and the wheels are well in motion for the stalls. We’re all determined as a team to raise as much money as possible for a simply wonderful cause.

“Last year was an amazing start as we raised an incredible £2,000 for Claire House but I want to make this year’s even better.

“It was a really special day for Freddie and my family. It’s something I’ll remember for the rest of my life.”

Tickets are just £5 for adults and £2 for concessions and can be purchased through contacting Keith Peters directly on Facebook.
