The family tea and coffee business was started in the 1880s and was owned by Richard Makinson who also built and owned the Makinson Arcade.

Frank Tickle sadly leaves his shop on his last day in the Wiend on Monday 3rd of December 1979 before moving to the Times Craft Centre on Mesnes Street.
