Pickets during the Stockport Messenger dispute at Winwick Quay, Warrington, on Tuesday 29th of November 1983.
The dispute was between the Stockport Messenger Group proprietor Eddie Shah and the National Graphical Association over closed shop agreements. It went on over several nights as the pickets attempted to stop production of the newspapers. Wigan photographer Frank Orrell was sent from Wigan to cover the dispute because it had wider implications within the newspaper industry. Photo: Frank Orrell
