However, while the average house price in England, according to the latest statistics available, the UK House Price Index for November 2020, is £266,742, properties in Wigan had an average selling price of £178,632 over 2020.
The average price in November was £151,672 an 11.1 per cent increase on November 2019, when the average price was £136,493,
Property website Rightmove said the majority of sales in Wigan during the last year were semi-detached properties, selling for an average price of £145,332. Detached properties sold for an average of £284,487, with terrace properties fetching £119,293.
Overall, sold prices in Wigan over the last year were 65 per cent up on the previous year and 6 per cent up on the 2011 peak of £168.457.
