A glimpse of a tranquil oasis in Wigan

Wigan and Leigh Hospice opened the tranquil green spaces around its Hindley headquarters as part of the National Gardens Scheme.
Sadly the weather did not co-operate with downpours throughout the day, but those hardy visitors who turned up at the Kildare Street venue were rewarded with tours of the peaceful grounds and floral displays.

The charity also has a memorial garden for its popular Dedicate A Daisy scheme, three ponds and a bridge donated by the Whitworth Gallery.
Dr Alan Baron, chief executive of the hospice, said: “The gardens at the hospice are a hidden sanctuary for our patients and their visitors right in the middle of Hindley.”
