BREAKING: Brit who died in Magaluf named as Blackpool woman

A young holidaymaker from Blackpool has died in her hotel room in the Spanish town of Magaluf.

It has been reported that Samantha Johnson, 23, was discovered by hotel staff just before 11pm last night after they forced their way into her room.

Emergency services were called to the three-star TRH Torrenova where she’d been staying shortly before 11pm on Monday night but were unable to resuscitate her.

It is believed she drowned while taking a bath.

A Civil Guard spokesman in Majorca, said: “We are treating this death as a tragic accident.

“A local court will now open a routine probe but we will be informing the investigating judge there is no evidence a crime has taken place and everything is pointing towards this woman’s death being accidental.

“We were asked to attend a three-star hotel in Magaluf where the incident happened around 11pm on Monday night.

“Staff at the hotel saw water seeping out from under the door and when they got into the room found the woman in the bath.

“They called paramedics who were unable to revive her as well as the Civil Guard.

“She may have fallen asleep while taking a bath.”

A post-mortem confirmed that she had drowned. Police investigators said they were treating the incident as a tragic accident.

The TRH Torrenova is just 300 metres from Magaluf beach. Its website says it is ideal for “resting and enjoying holidays.”
