Burst pipe leaves residents high and dry

Residents in an area of Wigan currently have no water supply after a pipe burst.

A spokesman for United Utilities confirmed that engineers were currently working on the problem.

As a result of the damage, a large pool of water has surfaced near the Crown Hotel, in Wigan Road, New Springs, on Thursday morning, causing some traffic queues.

A spokesman for United Utilities said: “We are aware of the problem and our engineers are looking into it. They are trying to isolate the damage part of the pipe and looking to get water supply back to customers within a few hours.
