Two cars were damaged in another crash at a controversial junction.

A silver Ford Fiesta and a white Ford Fiesta collided at the junction of Warrington Road and Highfield Grange Avenue, in Marus Bridge, at around 8pm on Wednesday.

No-one was injured but the vehicles were damaged and there was oil and debris in the road.

The junction has been subject to many complaints in recent months after undergoing a £1.4m redevelopment to convert it from a roundabout to a traffic light-controlled crossroads.

There were several serious collisions last year, which prompted fears confused motorists were unsure of right-of-way priorities at the new lights.

Last month Wigan Council bosses said new road markings and signs had been put in place.
