Haigh Woodland Park has enlisted the help of little green fingers to add some extra colour ahead of the Borough In Bloom Awards.

Children from St David Haigh and Aspull CE Primary School joined Friends of Haigh Woodland Park and volunteers from the Haigh-based Wigan Model Railway Society filling bedding plants and ensuring the 250 acres of park and woodland are at their most stunning in advance of the park’s judging day on July 10.

Leading on the park scheme is Lewis Hill, assistant manager (operations) for destination parks at Inspiring healthy lifestyles, the organisation that manages the
site.

Lewis said: “It’s fantastic to involve the local community in ensuring the people of Wigan have the opportunity see Haigh Woodland Park at its beautiful best.

“This is the first time Haigh has been involved in the Borough in Bloom scheme and I’d like to thank St David’s and Aspull, along with our community groups, for playing their part in making the park the best it can be for our
community.”

Haigh Woodland Park is nominated in the Neighbourhood Park Category at the Wigan Borough in Bloom
celebration.
