Could Wigan charity concert spark raffle jacket scrap?

It'll all be in harmony on stage at a charity Christmas carol concert in Up Holland this Sunday come raffle time - but maybe not so in the audience.

Holland Hall Hotel owner and entrepreneur Bill Kenyon's wife Margaret and daughter Suzie will be holding their annual fund-raiser in support of The Christie hospital at the Lafford Lane venue and a main raffle prize will be the choice of either a men's or women's Barbour jacket donated by the Barbour Foundation.

"The raffle prize is a fabulous donation made by Dame Margaret Barbour of the Barbour Foundation, and I can see quite some scrapping amongst the guests for tickets to try to win it," said Bill.

"But I've decided I want to maintain harmony both on stage and in the audience, so whoever wins the voucher for the Barbour jacket I'll be encouraging them to offer it as a gift to their other half, or other family member or friend, rather than bagsy it for themselves.

"It's the season of giving, after all. And it'll save them a bundle of cash on a main present for Christmas too."

Tickets are priced at £10 in advance and £12 on the night, and include complimentary mince pie and mulled wine.

The event runs from 6.30pm to 9pm, with the concert itself starting at 7.30pm with music provided by Wigan Prize Brass Band.

The voucher donated by the Barbour Foundation is for either a ladies' Barbour Cavalry Polarquilt or a men's Barbour Chelsea.
