A woman accused of attempting to murder her newborn baby son in Wigan has appeared at Liverpool Crown Court.

Orsolya-Anamaria Balogh, 27, was arrested after the infant was found abandoned in toilets at Wigan Infirmary on July 6.

She had been due to enter her plea but her barrister Steven Swift asked that the charge was not put to her and said that the defence were awaiting a psychiatric report.

The baby boy was resuscitated by medics and was said to be doing well when Balogh made her first appearance before magistrates last month.
