Biker rammed in masked raider ambush

Connor Hessell is now beginning a prison sentence of three years and four months after admitting to the violent but broad daylight ambush of Ryan Bibby in Atherton.

He was caught after his victim made an appeal on social media for helping track down his missing vehicle and catch the perpetrators.

Bolton Crown Court heard that Mr Bibby was riding his £3,500 Kawasaki KZ250 on Derby Street at 3.15pm on the afternoon of September 29 this year when he felt a knock to the back of the bike.

He turned and saw three figures with face coverings behind him sitting in a silver Mercedes which was following him.

The hearing was told that Mr Bibby rode into Devonshire Road to evade them but the car followed him, rammed into him again and this time knocked him off his bike and into the road.

As he picked up the vehicle he was approached by one of the men who had got out of the Mercedes and he heard threats shouted from the car by his accomplices.

The court heard that Mr Bibby backed away and the man got on the motorcycle and rode off on it towards Somerset Road and out of sight with the Mercedes in tow.

Prosecutors told the court that the victim later put out an appeal for information on Facebook about his missing motorbike and someone put Hessell’s names forward as being responsible for the robbery and this ultimately led to his arrest.

The 34-year-old of Stout Street, Leigh, pleaded guilty to robbery and was handed a 40-month jail term.
