Cash stolen in armed robbery at Wigan food store

A man wielding a crowbar forced his way into the Heron Foods shop in Ashton and demanded money was handed over.

Police were called to the dramatic incident at around 8pm on Saturday.

The man with the weapon fled the scene in a Ford Fiesta with a quantity of cash from the Gerard Street store.

It is believed two other men were also involved in the robbery.

No injuries were reported.

Inquiries are now under way but so far no arrests have been made.
