A Wigan man who took a kitchen knife to a convenience store has been made the subject of a 12-month community order.

Anthony Donnelly, 44, of Church Street, Golborne, had appeared before borough justices to plead guilty to having taken the blade to a Morrisons Daily store in Lowton on February 5 last year.

Because a knife was involved, the case was sent to Bolton Crown Court for sentencing, where Donnelly was ordered to complete nine months of drug rehab and 15 days of rehabilitation activities.
