John Beck, 44, of Wesley Street, Pemberton, appeared before Wigan and Leigh justices to plead guilty to using threatening or abusive words or behaviour and to taking the £3 worth of newspapers from Claytons News on April 21.

He was given a 12-month conditional discharge and ordered to pay £25 in compensation.
