Domestic violence thug is sentenced

Paul Pownall, 31, of Hope Street, Leigh, had initially denied two assaults by beating of Danielle Preston in incidents on January 29 and 30 this year. But before the matter came to trial he changed his pleas to guilty.

He was ordered to complete 20 days of rehab activities and must pay compensation, fines, costs and a victim services surcharge totalling £995. A year-long restraining order against his having any contact with Ms Preston was also imposed.
