Drunk who assaulted police officer and paramedic spared jail

A drunken man who assaulted a police officer and paramedic has been spared an immediate prison term.

David Lorimer, 49, of Lowther Drive, Leigh, appeared before Wigan magistrates to admit the assault of the two female 999 workers on May 5. The bench gave him an eight-week prison term but suspended it for 18 months. He was ordered to pay each victim £100 compensation, he will be supervised for 18 months and must complete 25 days of rehab activities.
