The case of a young Wigan man charged with twice assaulting a woman held against her will is sent to the crown court

A Wigan 21-year-old is accused of twice holding a woman prisoner and assaulting her.

Harvey Jowett, of Upper St Stephen Street, Gidlow, appeared before Manchester justices charged with the false imprisonment of a named female on both September 22 and October 6.

It is further alleged that on the first of those occasions he caused the woman actual bodily harm and vandalised a clock, television and cabinet; and that on the second occasion he assaulted her by beating, possessed cannabis and slashed her coat with a knife.

No pleas have yet been entered and Jowett was granted conditional bail until his first appearance at Manchester Crown Court, Crown Square on November 12.
