Fire alert at boarded-up house near Wigan
An investigation is underway after a kitchen fire at a boarded-up property in the early hours.
Firefighters from Hindley were called out after smoke was reported coming from a property in Church Avenue, Bickershaw, at around 5.30am.
Watch manager Mike Wilding said the property had been previously been boarded up by the police.
But it is thought that entry had been gained to the house, before the fire was reported.
An inquiry is believed to be underway after the incident was reported to police.
