A Leigh man who admitted being armed in the street with a flick knife has been spared an immediate jail term.

Dean Balmer, 46, of Ena Crescent, was given a four-month prison term by Wigan justices but, because he was of previous good character, it was suspended for a year. He was also ordered to complete 10 days’ rehabilitation activities and has £213 to pay to the court and victim services.
