Police were called to the address on Elizabeth Street in Leigh on the morning of Friday August 28 to reports suggesting a theft was taking place.

However, when they got into the place they instead found a massive operation growing illegal drugs.

Officers spent more than six hours at the house making the scene safe.

They had to dismantle the rooms in which the cannabis was being grown, bag up all the plants and take them to be incinerated and log all the evidence of the criminal activity.

They also found the electricity had been bypassed by the offenders.

Police believe the cannabis growing operation is linked to organised crime.
