Man arrested after police officer assaulted

Police said the male, from Oswaldtwistle in East Lancashire, has been arrested for public order offences and assaulting a police officer in Parbold.

Officers said they had tried to speak to the man to ascertain the reason for his journey when the incident happened.

In a Facebook post, Ormskirk and Rural West Lancs Police, said: "A male from Oswaldtwistle has been arrested for public order offences and assaulting a Police officer in Parbold, when the officer tried to speak to him to ascertain the reason for his journey.

"Assaulting our staff is not acceptable at any time but we are trying to keep everyone safe in difficult circumstances."
