Man charged with attempted murder after woman assaulted in Wigan

A 54-year-old man has been charged with the attempted murder of a woman in Wigan.

Wayne Ahearne, of Scot Lane, has been remanded into custody and is scheduled to appear at Manchester Crown Court on Monday, April 12.

Police were called to reports that a woman had been assaulted on Scot Lane, Marsh Green, at around 2.05pm on Saturday (March 13).

The 45 year-old victim was taken to hospital with serious injuries, and is in a stable condition.

A police van continues to guard a boarded up bungalow on the road this afternoon.
