Man pleads not guilty to savage attack in borough prison

He appeared before Bolton Crown Court by video link to answer the charges against him.

The 32-year-old, currently of HMP Berwyn in Wrexham, is charged with unlawfully and maliciously inflicting grievous bodily harm on Nathan Powell at the Hindley jail on April 23 last year.

Jones is also accused of having a Zanco mobile phone while at HMP Hindley in contravention of the Prison Act.

A trial date was set for January 18.
