Man released under investigation as probe into murder of Wigan woman continues

Detectives are continuing to investigate the death of 48-year-old Sarah Fleming, who was found at her house on Mesnes Road in Swinley at around 11pm on Thursday.

A 48-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of murder and has since been released under investigation pending further enquiries.

Inquiries are ongoing into the cause of her death and officers are appealing to the public for information.

Det Insp Neil Lawless, of GMP’s Wigan CID, said: “Our thoughts remain with the family of the woman who was sadly found deceased. This is a terrible time for them and we are doing all we can to provide them with the answers they need.

“As I said at the start of this investigation, we have to approach this incident with an open mind and ensure that all lines of enquiry are explored before coming to our conclusion.

“While we await the results of medical examinations, which will hopefully give us a clearer indication of what has happened here, we continue to ask the public to provide us with any information that could aid our investigation.”
