Man seriously injured after assault in Wigan

A man was seriously injured after he was assaulted in the early hours.

Police were called to a report of an assault on Wallgate in Wigan at around 1.40am on Saturday (March 14).

A 31-year-old man was taken to hospital with serious injuries and has since been released following treatment.

Two men aged 20 and 21 have been arrested on suspicion of assault. Both remain in custody for questioning.
