Motorway cyclist causes crash near Wigan
Startled police pulled over a cyclist who caused a crash on the M58 near Wigan.
The cyclist had apparently gone onto the motorway on his push bike to get his daily exercise.
Police said he had been using the inside lane of the motorway, between junctions 4 and 5 between Orrell and Skelmersdale, causing a driver to swerve around him and collide with a van.
Lancashire Road Police tweeted this picture of the offender.
Their caption read: “This chap had been taking his daily exercise in Lane 1 of the M58 causing two cars to crash around him and somehow avoided being wiped out himself.”
The man, who was not drunk or on drugs was hit with a fine.
No-one was injured.
