Parents in the dock accused of failing to prevent daughter's truanting

Parents have appeared before Wigan justices accused of not preventing their daughter's term-long truancy.

Katie Entwistle and Keiron Monks, of The Avenue in Billinge, are charged with failing to ensure the named child – who is said to be of compulsory school age – regularly attended Up Holland High School between September and December last year.

They have yet to enter a plea and will return to court on May 5. They are being prosecuted under the Education Act of 1996.
