Gary Tarbuck, 32, of Claude Street, Pemberton, had already pleaded guilty to at least twice racially abusing Kieran Reggo, using highly offensive terms, and threatening to “twist him up.” Wigan justices gave him a six-month prison sentence but suspended it for two years.

They told Tarbuck: “Your behaviour was appalling. After the initial incident you returned on two further occasions and engaged in racial abuse and made serious threats of violence. Your record shows you have resorted to violence on several occasions.”

Tarbuck must undergo drug rehabilitation, complete 20 days’ rehab activities and pay a £115 surcharge.
