"Jack Worwood is just 13 and was on the pavement on the way to meet his friends to play football, he had only left the house 15 mins prior to the hit and run. This has devastated all our family and extended family."

She asked anyone with information about what happened to call the police.

The Facebook message has been shared more than 2,000 times since it was posted just before 11am on Wednesday and hundreds of people have passed on their best wishes to the boy's family.
