Suspect in Wigan horror stabbing is bailed

The 31-year-old was detained in connection with an incident last Thursday on Victoria Street, Platt Bridge after which a man in his 40s was taken to hospital where he underwent surgery for serious injuries.

After being questioned under suspicion of intending to cause the older man grievous bodily harm with intent, he has been bailed pending further inquiries.

Emergency services were brought to the scene at around 5.25am after reports of screaming and shouting were made.
