Swans 'shot' dead at Wigan beauty spot

Two swans have died after they were allegedly shot at a Wigan beauty spot, police have said.

Officers were called at around 10.40am on Friday (February 12) to a report of two swans which appeared to have been shot at Scotman's Flash, Wigan.

Further enquiries have since suggested the birds were attacked by a white husky dog at around 5pm the previous day, according to Greater Manchester Police.

The force is now appealing for information.
