The 17-year-old, who cannot be identified but has a long criminal record, admitted taking George Apostol’s Ford Transit plus its parcelled contents on January 4 along with breaching a training and detention order handed down by the youth court for a dozen offences including burglary, assault, carjacking, dangerous driving and knife possession.

Initially he had denied driving the stolen van while disqualified and uninsured, but at the latest Wigan Youth Court hearing he changed his pleas.

He was bailed until sentence on March 11 subject to a 7pm to 7am curfew at his home address.
