Buhus Sorin, 19, of Barnsley Street in Gidlow had been charged by police with causing serious injury by dangerous driving, driving without insurance and driving otherwise in accordance with a licence.

He was due to appear at Bolton Magistrates’ Court this month after being released on police bail following his arrest.

Sorin was initially detained following a three-vehicle pile-up on the afternoon of Monday July 27 this year at the junction of Mesnes Road, Kenyon Road and Walkden Avenue East outside Sherrington’s bar, in which a 33-year-old was gravely injured and has since required extensive hospital treatment.

Horrifying CCTV footage of the crash and its aftermath was later circulated on social media.
