Drink-driving has cost a Wigan motorist his licence.

David Corless, 55, of Bedford Place, Ashton-in-Makerfield, was caught driving under the influence of alcohol at the wheel of a Ford Focus in Woodgreen Gardens on Boxing Day, borough magistrates were told.

His breathalyser test gave a reading of 99 microgrammes of alcohol in 100ml of breath.

Corless was disqualifed from driving for at total of 23 months although the bench told him that this can be reduced to 23 weeks if he takes and passes a state-sanctioned course for drink-drivers.

He was put on a six-week electronic curfew and was also ordered to pay £180 in costs and a victim services surcharge.
