Jordan went to the Tesco Extra store on Central Park Way on Saturday afternoon and was horrified to emerge to find his white Ford Transit had gone.

The vehicle contained much of the equipment he needs to do his job as a heating engineer, with Jordan totting up the losses at around £3,000.

Inquiries so far have failed to turn anything up and Jordan, 24, has spoken of the devastating blow of having his vehicle pinched, saying it also had an item of sentimental value to his young daughter in it.

He said: “I couldn’t believe it in the beginning. It was devastating. Everything for my job has gone: all my power tools, hand tools, ladders and stepladders, everything.

“It’s horrendous. I only started up last February self-employed and had just finished paying off the van and everything else. Now this goes and happens.

“There was also my daughter’s blanket in it.

“She’s had it since she was a newborn and sleeps with it every night.

“It’s an orange and white crochet blanket. Even if it’s just the blanket I get back I’ll be happy.”

Jordan said he went to the supermarket between 2.30pm and 3pm on Saturday to buy his daughter a teddy bear and when the two of them came out of the store after around 20 minutes the van had vanished.

The matter was reported to Greater Manchester Police (GMP) and a crime reference number has been issued.

Jordan said he also went to Tesco to look at the CCTV footage but the cameras were not in the right position to see the van being taken.

The van is a white Ford Transit with a WN10 registration plate and does not have any design painted on it.

Jordan said it had a padlock on the rear doors.

Anyone who saw what happened to the van or has any information about the theft should call police on 101, quoting crime reference number CRI-06LL-0004646-21.
