Wigan man, 61, arrested after serious assault

Police detained a man in his 60s after another man was seriously assaulted at a Wigan address.

The incident took place in Walthew Lane, Platt Bridge, just after 12 noon yesterday, Wednesday June 17.

Police said they were called to reports of a serious assault at a private address. The victim, a 38-year-old man, was taken to hospital with serious injuries but is now recovering at home.

A 61-year-old man was arrested. Emergency services, including paramedics, were at the scene for around two hours, and the busy road was closed while initial enquiries were made.

Police are yet to confirm whether the suspect has been charged.
