John Beck, 43, of Wesley Street, Wigan, appeared before borough magistrates accused of causing Lorraine Molyneux grievous bodily harm on July 29.
The bench ordered that he be remanded in custody until he makes his first appearance before a Bolton Crown Court judge on August 26. Beck has yet to enter a plea.
