A Wigan man was cleared of assault but jailed for 16 weeks for breaking a court order
He was sentenced for breaking a court order, but cleared of assault by beating.
A Wigan man has been jailed for breaking a court order by contacting a woman.
Tom Schofield, 25, of no fixed address, pleaded guilty to breaching the domestic abuse protection order (DAPO) imposed by magistrates in May, after he was in contact with the woman in Bolton town centre on August 15.
He had denied assaulting the same woman by beating her that day and was found not guilty after a trial at Manchester Magistrates’ Court.
Schofield was jailed for 16 weeks and told to pay £85 prosecution costs and a £154 surcharge.
