Wigan man charged with 12 terrorism offences

A man from Wigan will appear at the Old Bailey after being charged with a dozen terrorism offences.

Liam Fenn, 21, has been charged with the following offences:

- 9 charges under Section 58(1)(b) TACT 2000, which relates to the possession of a document or record likely to be useful to a person preparing, or committing, an act of terrorism.

- 3 charges under Section 1 TACT 2006, which relates to the encouragement of acts of terrorism.

Fenn was remanded in custody and taken to Manchester Magistrates Court to appear via video link at Westminster Magistrates Court on Thursday 26 March.

He has been remanded to appear before the Central Criminal Court (The Old Bailey) on April 8.

At around 8am on Tuesday 24 March 2020, officers from Counter Terrorism Policing North West executed a warrant at a property on Harrow Place, Wigan and arrested a 21-year-old man on suspicion of terrorism offences.
