Charges of strangulation and controlling and coercive behaviour have been brought against a Wigan man

Domestic abuse allegations, including two counts of strangulation have been made against a Wigan 43-year-old.

Marian Buruena, of Warrington Road, Ince, stood before borough justices to face a charge of controlling and coercive behaviour towards a named female between April 1 last year and August 24 this year, its being claimed that he "inflicted violence, was verbally abusive by swearing, shouting, made derogatory comments, wanted to know her whereabouts and went through her phone deleting/blocking persons."

He is further accused of intentionally strangling her twice during that period.

Buruena was granted conditional bail until making a first appearance before a Liverpool judge on September 29.

Pleas have yet to be entered.
