Wigan man hit with community sentence after hurling insults

A man who hurled insults at three people - one of whom he religiously abused - has been hit with a community sentence and a £200 compensation bill.

Andrew Gaskell, 37, of Heather Grove, Worsley Hall, stood before Wigan magistrates to admit using threatening, insulting or abusive language against Tahir Ozen, Keith Slater and Karen Slater and that the first was religiously aggravated. He was ordered to undergo drug rehab, complete 25 days’ rehab activities and 100 hours’ unpaid work. He must pay Mr Ozen £100 and the Slaters £50 each.
