A motorist from Wigan is accused of being almost five times the drink-drive limit.

It is alleged that when 57-year-old Phillip Poole of Bakewell Drive, Beech Hill, was stopped by police on Knowsley Road in a Nissan 350Z convertible he gave a breath test reading of 170 microgrammes of alcohol in 100ml of breath. The legal limit is 35.

Wigan justices adjourned the case to September 23.
