Wigan teen accused of racially abusing woman

Michael Bate, 19, of Warrington Road, Abram, appeared before borough justices accused of using threatening, insulting or abusive words or behaviour against Nagina Iqbar on May 24 last year in Leigh which led her to believe that violence might be inflicted on her, and that what he said was racially aggravated.

The defendant, who is being prosecuted under the Crime and Disorder Act, has yet to enter a plea and the case was adjourned until July 25.
